for school classes tomorrow except for those members at the sandy hook school. they will be excused, of course, until further notice. >> we'll have more on the future of sandy hook, the school itself in a few minutes. police say they still have work in their investigation. right now, they are interviewing witnesses in hopes of learning more about the horrifying massacre. the shooting, as you can imagine, is affecting parents and kids all over the country, including right here in the bay area. ktvu's tara moriarty is live in san francisco with more on how students will honor the victims in newtown -- newtown, today. >> reporter: well, they plan to stand in solidarity with the students by wearing their school colors. behind me here, you can see there is a fence up around this school. that, of course, is gonna be the topic of discussion among a lot of school administrators. many schools have fences designed to keep intruders out. but if they get in, it's questionable how far they can get. california's superintendent expects more discussions about this. he's alerted all 1100 public scho
of sandy hook elementary school. family and friends of two of the young victims came together today at separate memorial services. >> reporter: this is the funeral home where family and friends came together to say good-bye. many kids were wearing their colors in honor of the young football player. few people wanted to talk to the media. he said jack was buried in the jersey of his favorite new york giants favorite player, victor cruz. the students from sandy hook elementary school will not be going back to campus. for much of the day moving trucks were bringing in furniture from sandy hook elementary school. >> we are opening our arms and our community to bring them over, nothing is ever going to be the same. but we are trying to pick up the pieces. >> reporter: none of the schools were open for classes today. at newtown high school staff and administrators gathered for all day meetings to figure out how to handle school tomorrow. in bethel, the high school and other schools were back in session tonight. some students were wearing elementary school. sandy hook love and support mul
throughout the state have converged this morning to mourn the dead. >> reporter: we are in -- sandy hook rights here, across from the volunteer fire department. you can see quite a bit of activity. police, firefighters, 24 hours ago it was a different scene, children were running here from their school just around the corner, sandy hook elementary to this fire station after being told by police this is where they can come to be safe because of what was happening in the school. it was a scene of chaos and horror, terrified children, hundreds of them coming here. this morning much calmer, no chaos. nothing horrible but still the memory of what happened yesterday. now, the police are here obviously, state police still here. the investigation continues at the school. just around the corner. you can see the police over there talking to people coming in. making sure that the media don't crossover the line. taking flowers as people bring them in. we got here at about 1:40 this morning after flying in from the bay area. we went straight to saint rose church where there was a human memorial vigil
